Carma Newman

Carma S. Newman, 76 of Mt. Pleasant, Utah passed away September 28, 2010 in Provo, Utah. Carma was born to Briant & Hazel Sessions Stringham in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 1, 1934. She graduated from Davis High School and worked in Kaysville for Utah telephone office before she married her husband Joseph R. Newman in June of 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent 30 of their married years in Grover, WY where they owned a jewelry store and she was the bookkeeper. Carma loved to paint and was a very talented landscape artist. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family, it was one of her best accomplishments. Carma was a member of the LDS church and had many callings in Young Womens, Sunday School, and Relief Society. She was a very spiritual and enjoyed serving in the Dallas Fort Worth Mission serving mainly in Oklahoma and New Mexico. In 1989 Carma had a stroke leaving her partly paralyzed. She was still able to travel in the motor home, fish on the boat and enjoy the outdoors. In 2001 she moved to Mt. Pleasant, Utah for warmer weather and a more accessible home. She is survived by her husband, Joe Newman, Mt. Pleasant; children, JoAnne Bement; Mickel J. & LaRisa Newman; Gloria & Carl Hamilton, Jared J. & Rebecca Newman; Lorna & Tim Jensen; Alma J. & Gail Newman; brother, Calvin & Francis Stringham; sister Jane & George Pate; 31 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren. Carma was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Audrey Newman; brothers, John, Earl Stringham. Funeral Services will be held Friday October 1, 2010 at 12:00 noon in the LDS North Stake Center. Friends may call Thursday September 30, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Rasmussen Mortuary and Friday from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the church. A Graveside service will be held Saturday October 2, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Grover Cemetery in Grover, WY. Online condolences at rasmussenmortuary.com.
